My name is Kimberly Thomas, and I am a graduate of the University of Georgia with two bachelor’s degrees in journalism and international affairs, a minor in German, and a certificate in news literacy. I currently attend the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany, where I am pursuing a master’s degree in international affairs, with an emphasis on human rights and global governance.
Previously, I worked for the Oglethorpe Echo in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, as a county government and politics reporter. There, I mainly covered commissioner meetings, elections, and tax policy. Before that, I contributed to the Red & Black in Athens, Georgia, and wrote and edited the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority’s newsletter.
My experiences abroad, as both a journalist and an international affairs student, have inspired me to work closely with foreign governments, advocating for fair human rights practices and conflict resolution on the global stage.
Outside of academics, I enjoy reading dystopian novels, listening to historical podcasts, discussing politics, and strength training at the gym.
